NMAHHC represents approximately 120 home care and hospice agencies who provide hands-on care to New Mexico residents in their homes.  NMAHHC includes in its membership all types of agencies:  home care and hospice programs, case management, home medical equipment/infusion and supplies and affiliated businesses.

In 2006, NMAHHC collaborated with the New Mexico Pain Initiative to become part of the Power Over Pain Campaign, a project of the American Pain Foundation.  This project was supported by a grant from the American Society of Pain Initiatives and the American Pain Foundation.  Volunteers were solicited from NMAHHC members to become part of this grassroots effort to improve pain management in their communities through public awareness, education and pain policy advocacy.

21 agencies representing 13 communities received training and educational materials to enable them to develop community based educational programs for both consumers and other health care professionals.  The goal is to improve the knowledge and skills of all people affected by pain to become more effective advocates.
